National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) has recently been set up by the Ministry of Food Processing Industry, Govt. of India as an autonomous Institution to work as an International centre of excellence to cater to the needs of various stakeholders such as entrepreneurs, food processing industry, exporters, policy makers, government and other institutions.

NIFTEM would play a pivotal role in developing food standards, quality, accreditation & certification and aim to work as sector promotion organization of the food processing sector with the following objectives:

1. One stop solution provider to all the problems of food sector
2. Offer training to the industry on skill & entrepreneurship development
3. Facilitate business incubation service
4. Conduct research, foster innovation and assist Govt. in the policy making for development of the food processing sector
5. Develop world class managerial talent coupled with advance knowledge in food science & technology

Academic activities

Recognized as Deemed University under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, NIFTEM working through its Academic Council offers  academic programmes in the field of

2. Basic & Applied Science
3. Food Engineering
4. Food Science & Technology
5. Food Business management

NIFTEM aims to become a world class educational hub in the field of food technology and management and intend to produce approximately 1000 students and entrepreneurs, incubate about 250 business, undertake 300 research projects,550 short term courses and 450 projects related to food standard setting and testing and also to generate 100 patents over next five years.

Research Activities

International Collaboration

With a view to bring the best of global technology and expertise into the food processing industries in India, NIFTEM has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wageningen University, The Netherland to collaborate in the field of human resource development, applied research and industry oriented innovation.
